Pop star Davido has rejoiced over the certificate of return issued to his uncle Ademola Adeleke by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after emerging winner of the governorship election held in Osun.
The 30-year-old shared the news in a Twitter post on Wednesday, July 20, apologising for his outburst on Tuesday.
According to Davido, his family name and career was put on the line but they had faith that Adeleke would emerge victorious.
Sharing a photo of his uncle displaying the certificate, the singer wrote: “It’s been a long battle fought !! We put our Family name on the line, I put my career on the line! But we had faith!! This was God testing us if we really believed in him !! I feel victorious! Congrats! Your excellency @AAdeleke_01 ! As for me it’s back to the studio!”
In another post, Davido apologised saying, “You do well INEC no vex for yesterday.”
The certificate was issued after Davido called out INEC over its alleged refusal to issue the certificate to Adeleke.
The Independent National Electoral Commission on Sunday morning declared Ademola Adeleke the winner of the election.
INEC returning officer for the poll Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe said Adeleke got a total of 403,371 votes while the incumbent Governor Ggboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress got 375,027 votes.
Davido, who drummed support for his uncle celebrated his victory on social media.
