What Nigeria Needs Now is Referendum, Ideology that Unity Not Negotiable is Bloody – Awuzie | #IgbereTV
Beyond The Killings: A Ticking Time Bomb…
Let me say this… Nigeria is sitting on a ticking time bomb… anything can happen anytime.
The major threat to Nigeria is not just the killings. The major threat is the Radicalization of the population catalyzed by the killings.
Radicalization is the process of initiating someone into supporting an extremist ideology. Political radicalization is mostly aided by the Government’s failure to address sensitive national issues. Other types of radicalization includes Religious radicalization, tribal radicalization etc.
The Owo killing is strategic…The killers planned it to further radicalize the population in their bid to start another civil war in the country. They understand that our leaders care more about their political ambitions than they care about human lives. So they attacked in the heat of a political power wrestle. The leaders didn’t blink an eye. They continued with their planned political dinner in their upper echelon. Their aides copied and edited past Statements on similar events and posted on their official social media handles. This is the only response our government gives in times like this -a copied and edited script void of compassion and full of empty rhetorics. The president won’t speak. The vice president is seeking for continuity. The people are angry, bitter and disrespected. They will seek to follow the voice of political or tribal radicals who promise liberation. This is the biggest threat to national security – the fact that such bloody events can occur simultaneously with a political dinner in Abuja leaving the people vulnerable to radicalization. The impact of this simultaneous occurrence and resultant Radicalization disturbed my peace all night. I woke up to screenshots of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s ‘prophecies’ and I smiled bitterly knowing deeply that thousands have already being initiated into extremist ideologies just because we have a foolish, unintelligent, unintentional and insensitive ruling class. Should we blame the vulnerable masses? No. They are reacting based on the information available to them. They are angry, emotional, exhausted and vulnerable. They will queue behind any extremist who promises to match violence with violence without pausing to reflect on the product of multiplying violence in society. We are sitting on a ticking time bomb. And unfortunately, it is almost too late to discuss any solution outside a Radical one.
If not that I understand radicalization deeply, an event like this can make me support the other alternatives. But I understand radicalization… I led a radical movement against Religious fraud… I was almost at the point of radicalizing my followers when I paused. What many people don’t understand is that I had the power and evidence to make young people enter centers of religious fraud and destroy such centers. But I knew that could lead to violence in the society so I paused. Already, we embarked on taking back money from false prophets and giving it back to the victims. Despite the good motives of the reformation, I had to stop in order to prevent bloodshed. Resultantly, some followers of the reformation became atheists and still oppose both God and those who believe in God. But that wasn’t my intention – just to show you how off shoots occur in every movement and why we must guard against radicalization and multiplication of violence.
Let me conclude by saying this – NIGERIA NEEDS A REFERENDUM. The ideology that our Unity is Not Negotiable is bloody. A free and fair referendum may not break up Nigeria but it will give us an idea of what the people want. If the people no longer believe in the nationhood of Nigeria, the government will only kill Nigerians to keep Nigeria. Tribal hatred will continue and will eventually lead to a civil war. Is that the solution? We need a radical solution from the government before the whole population is radicalized.
Beyond The Killings, we are sitting on a ticking time bomb.
My name is Charles Awuzie and I am a concerned Nigerian.
