BREAKING!! Panic in Bakassi, C’River Over Expiration Of Ultimatum To Release Kanu | #IgbereTV
There is panic in Cross River State over heavy military presence at Bakassi as Biafra Nations League’s (BNL) threat to release Nnamdi Kanu and others expires, IgbereTV has learned.
According to Negroidhaven, the heavy military presence might not be unconnected to the ultimatum by BNL to the Federal Government to release the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and other supporters of BNL, who are in custody before January 23, 2022.
The heavy military presence is in Bakassi Local Council, especially Ikang waterways and the welcome to Bakassi area where the group reportedly seized control and hoisted the Biafran flag in November 2021.
Also in response, the Cameroonian authority has deployed men of the Rapid d’intervention Battalion (BIR) to the ceded Bakassi Peninsula as a result of the threat, but the BNL said it would not be threatened by the forces deployed to the area.
The National Leader of BNL, Princewill Richard has allegedly disclosed in a statement that the group would not back down, adding that it has already instructed its members to embark on civil disobedience in areas of their influence outside Bakassi.
Meanwhile, the kidnap of passengers traveling on the Cross River/Akwa Ibom waterways has increased to 17, including the driver of a boat abducted in January 17, 2022.
The passengers were on their way from the Safe Journey Beach in Calabar, to neighboring Akwa Ibom State.
