Unknown gunmen have killed a yet to be ascertained numbers of policemen and set their vehicle ablaze at a checkpoint in Okija, Anambra State.
The tragic incident, according to information reaching Igbere TV news desk, happened on Thursday afternoon.
Our correspondent gathered that many other policemen were injured during the shooting incident which occurred at a security post mounted by the operatives in Okija.
The operation vehicle of the security operatives was also set ablaze.
Igbere TV reports that the incident is the latest in what appears to be a growing trend of attacks on police stations and security personnel in the South-East region of the country.
The governors in the region recently announced the establishment of a joint security outfit, codenamed ‘Ebube Agu’ to “battle rising insecurity”.
