New Generation Artistes Don’t Respect Elders – Afrobeat Singer, Alariwo Of Africa

Afrobeat singer Rotimi Martins popularly known as Alariwo of Africa has expressed his displeasure over the attitude of new generation artistes towards the older generation, alleging that they are after money not the passion of art.

Alariwo, in an interview with rapper Weird MC, made this known in an Instagram post shared on Thursday.

“I like this concept of celebrating people that have been there before. We have paid our dues and we are no fools, so we need to be celebrated and not tolerated.

“I go to where I am celebrated, we need to be celebrated, we have paid our dues. We were doing it for the love, not the monetary gain, I remember back then how much were we collecting for a show? We were doing it for the love, not money, we were doing it for passion.

“I remember back then when a lot of people were saying who is Alariwo of Africa? Only three people stood by me, Weird MC, Bunmi and Ricka T. So we should appreciate and give God the glory that we are still here, relevant and we are still everywhere,” he said.

The Delta-born started out as an OAP and worked with Eko FM until 2004 when he resigned to focus on his music and other business interest.
