Sopuru: Caught in The Act Days to Dubai Trip, Set Ablaze | #IgbereTV
By: Cypress D’Light Chukwunonso Obimma
He is actaully a brother not by blood but by relationship. We lived together in the north before the north became Inhabitable for Igbos.
He was a a nice guy…at teenage, the family started noticing some behavior which is not familiar to their background. At first they took it lightly until it became disturbing.
He used to work as a labourer at construction sites.
2 years ago..he was very young and hustling.
Wasn’t into gambling or ganging.
His first attempt to attack me even as his senior brother was at my site. I was shocked because he was a very loyal guy not finding trouble. After that incident… He knelt down begging me to forgive him and pray for him that he don’t understand what usually come over him atimes.
It happened that once the spirit possess him, he begins to look for something to steal even if it’s memory card.
His father is rich.
He doesn’t need the money.
He has been an independent guy.
He likes making his own money.
I believe the thing became worst when he started mixing with street guys…
I informed the dad about it.
We’ve made numerous effort to help him.
You know our country and our mindset.
Everything is spiritual.
So from one pastor to another.
From one councelor to another.
From one therapist to another. Making consultations.
In most cases he would refuse to go.
One time he came to the father confessing of stealing.not robbery. Last year December,I approached the dad and told him about rehabilitation centers and how they could help in restoring him.
We sought for ones within the east…but from the info we got…we didn’t have the confidence in them.
So we arranged to send him abroad with the plan to get him taken to a rehab oversees.
His visa was out.
He was to travel on that Friday.
The dad sent him some money to come home because he fled the house prior.
He was reluctant.
On the Sunday…
He joined the robbery gang.
On that attempt… Others escaped.
He and one other guy became the scape goat.
I can’t defend him.
I can’t enable vices.
But I can atleast let the world know he wasn’t with his right senses.
He needed help.
It’s so unfortunate he had to die that way.
I won’t judge you bro….. No I won’t join them.
It’s a week now…I’ve been speechless don’t know how to react to your untimely death.
No, they don’t know you and the battle you faced. No, their judgment is not valid.
Bro, I admonished you as an elder to refrain from bad gang… And I did the little I could to make sure you are helped.
No, I can’t join them in condemning you…
Seeing your body burn into ashes,I couldn’t coordinate.
I know many times you tried yourself to get helped.
I know many times you’ve cried and sought for help.
Most times after their robbery attack…he would run to the church pleading for forgiveness and prayers….
Sopuru has knelt down before me pleading to be helped.
I won’t forget…..
No….. I was silent on this because I was speechless…
But I won’t let you go like that without letting the world know that you weren’t a deliberate criminal….
Now your family is devastated.
Depression set in.
It’s so painful the way you died….
Seeing your skull burn to ashes….bro, I swear…I was broken…
What happened to correctional centers???
What happened to Rehabilitation centers???
Some of the bad boys we know today could be saved. Most of them are on hard drugs. Some of them have spiritual challenges. Most of them are Nice people away from drugs and robbery….
I condemn robbery and vices of any crime with all sincerity. But jungle justice is not justice at all.
Rest on brother I Stan.🙏🙏🙏🙏
