General superintendent of Redemption Ministries Worldwide Reverend Stephen Akinola has died at the age of 68 following an undisclosed illness.
Akinola died on Sunday morning in a hospital in Abuja. His death came hours after that of Prophet TB Joshua of the Synagogue Church of All Nations.
Akinola reportedly underwent a kidney transplant in the past.
According to one of Redemption Ministries’ pastors, Akinola’s body has been deposited in a morgue.
“The church has informed all the pastors of the incident and have deposited his body in a mortuary,” the pastor who did not give name over unauthorisation to speak on the matter told BBC Pidgin.
It was gathered that the church’s governing council in the headquarters in Port Harcourt, Rivers State would meet to make a formal announcement.
Akinola was popular for his ‘Suya night’ and ‘Wind of Fire’ programme.
