#TwitterBan: Twitter Deletes Nnamdi Kanu’s Tweets

Twitter has reportedly removed a tweet by the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra Nnamdi Kanu threatening soldiers.

Mr Kanu in the controversial tweet on Wednesday used derogatory words to describe some government officials, and threatened that soldiers deployed to the south-east would be killed, Premium Times reports.

“It’s not for the living to respond to the dead but given the lack of reasoning prevalent in the #Zoo Nigeria, I wish to assure @GarShehu (Garba Shehu), the Jihadi midget @elrufai (Nasir El-Rufai) & that Fulani lapdog Femi Adesina that any army they send to #Biafraland will die there. None will return alive,” his now-deleted tweet read.

Twitter deleted the post on Saturday for violating its policies after Nigerian authorities suspended its operations in the country.

The social media giant deleted President Muhammadu Buhari’s Tuesday post where he threatened to deal with IPOB “in the language they understand”. The post was taken down following outcry.

In a follow-up to the suspension, attorney-general of the federation Abubakar Malami has directed the prosecution of citizens bypassing Twitter blackout through VPNs.
