Plane Crash: Attahiru’s wife And Alive, Says El-Rufai’s Aide

Chief of Staff to Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State Mohammed Dattijo has dismissed reports that Fati, wife of the Chief of Army Staff Ibrahim Attahiru, died in the plane crash that killed her husband on Friday.

Mr. Dattijo said this in a message posted on Twitter.

“It is incorrect; the wife is alive. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace,” he tweeted.

Meanwhile, Leadership newspaper has apologised for reporting that Mrs Attahiru was one of those who died in the plane.

The paper’s apology is contained in a corrigendum published on Saturday morning.

“We erroneously reported that the wife of the Chief of Army Staff, Mrs Fati Attahiru, was involved in the air crash that claimed her husband and other military officers in Kaduna today.

“We were misled by sources that we trusted. We apologise to the Attahiru family and share in their moment of grief.

“We retract and regret the publication,” the paper said.
