Security: If You Don't Train Them, Don't Blame Them, Sir Udensi Cautions Govt

A renowned Interpol Systems Consultant, Sir Chikwe Udensi has warned the government against blaming security operatives for failure of security in the country, insisting that there is need to train the security agencies to brace up for current challenges, IgbereTV has learned.

Speaking with ABN TV, Sir Udensi expressed dissatisfaction that some security operatives in the past 5 to 10 years have not gone for refresher courses, saying they cannot perform better under such circumstance.

While stating that the knowledge of modern trends will be a significant milestone in fighting insecurity, he urged the government to consider the use of technology in fighting insecurity.

The Abia born APGA chief also added, “If you train them, you motivate them. If you look at the remuneration of our security agencies, it’s unfortunate. Like I keep saying, their take home pay cannot take them home. When this happens, we have a problem.

“And no matter how dedicated or patriotic a law enforcement agent is, when the motivation is not there, you cannot get the best out of him. That is what we are lacking in the country today. They are not motivated, poorly remunerated” he said.

While decrying the state of Police and Army barracks across the country, Sir Udensi said the type of food the policemen in police colleges are fed with is below standard and not fit for human consumption.
