Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the forthcoming Aba North and Aba South federal constituency bye-election, Chimaobi Ebisike, on Tuesday absconded from the election debate with opposition’s candidate, Mascot Uzor Kalu and others, IgbereTV reports
The bye-election, slated for Saturday, March 27, 2021, is to fill the vacant seat for Aba North/South Federal Constituency of Abia State following the death of Ossy Prestige, who represented the constituency.
According to the organisers, of all the three major contenders, only the APC candidate accepted to participate in the debate.
Mr. Mascot is the front runner and flag-bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the bye-election.
He was the Chief of Staff to ex-Governor, Theodore Orji and and a successful executive banker and international business magnate.
The debated which was later cancelled due to failure of the candidates of PDP and APGA to make appearance was organized by Abia State Debate Team. The group is made up of Radio stations and prominent online platforms based in the State.
