Matriculation: Acquire Additional Skills - Prof Ibe Charges Students (Photos)

Students of higher institutions in Nigeria have been enjoined to prioritize the acquisition of additional entrepreneurial skills while undertaking their academic programme.

Chancellor of Gregory University Uturu Prof Gregory Ibe gave this charge while speaking at the ninth matriculation ceremony of the university. According to Prof Ibe, human capital development especially among youths, remains the fastest way of industralizing the nation through the establishment of many small and medium scale enterprises. Going back memory lane, the university don narrated how he developed a dogged spirit of enterprise by learning many trades including, capentary, masonry, surveying and construction while still in school, stressing that the skills he acquired enabled him lay a solid financial foundation for his life. Challenging the new students to toe the path of excellence and diligence, he prophetically declared that they will exceed his achievements.

He therefore enjoined the matriculating students to eschew all forms of deviancy while upholding the tenets of sound morality throughout their tenure in the institution, as a way of anchoring their future on strong spiritual pillars.
Highlight of the ceremony was the symbolic act of administering oath of matriculation on a record number of 326 fresh students, admitted into the institution in the 2020/2021 academic session.

The ocassion attracted the attendance of many high profile personalities, including a former Deputy Governor of Imo State,Lady Ada Okwuonu and Deputy Chief of Staff to Abia State Governor, Chief Ukpai Agwu Ukpai.
