The Sultan of Sokoto Sa’ad Abubakar has lost his younger brother Abdulkadir Abubakar III who was the commissioner of home affairs in Sokoto.
Abubakar died after a protracted illness.
The late Abubakar was a former commissioner for information during Governor Aminu Tambuwal’s first tenure.
A statement on Friday by Tambuwal’s special adviser on media and publicity Muhammad Bello said the commissioner died on Thursday at 64 and has been buried according to Islamic rites.
Tambuwal described the death as a great loss to the state and nation at large in recognition of his contributions to the society.
He is survived by two wives and many children.
