Senator Adelere Oriolowo escaped death by the whiskers on Sunday following an attack by gunmen at the venue of a constituency meeting held at Ikire town in Irewole Local Government Area of Osun.
Adams Adedimeji, the legislative aide of the Osun West senator, said Oriolowo was whisked away unhurt.
In a Facebook post, Oriolowo said his assailants attempted to assassinate him.
He wrote, “Just escaped an sssassination attempt on my life and that of my entourage. To God be the glory, we are safe and alive.
“God is my helper, my shelter and my fortress, I fear no evil.”
Adedimeji told PUNCH that the legislator was already in Osogbo, the state capital, for safety.
He said, “The meeting was already in progress when the assailant struck. They shattered the windscreen of his vehicle but he is okay now. He is already in his Osogbo home.”
