President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday said he was “disgusted” by the coverage of the #EndSARS protests by foreign news media especially CNN and BBC.
The president tweeted, saying the broadcasters did not pay attention to the casualties suffered by the police in the aftermath of the protests.
“It must be said that foreign press coverage of the ENDSARS violence was not balanced, especially from CNN and BBC.
“I was disgusted by the coverage, which did not give attention to the policemen that were killed, the stations that were burnt, and prisons that were opened,” he wrote.
The Federal Government had petitioned CNN headquarters over its investigative report on the protest. But CNN insisted its report was factual that soldiers shot live bullets at #EndSARS protesters gathered at Lekki toll gate in Lagos on October 20.
Minister of Information and Culture Lai Mohammed had said BBC report was more “balanced” than that of CNN.
