EndSARS: Igbo Group Disowns Okeke Over Lawsuit Against Pastor Adeyemi,49 Others

The Conference of Igbo Youth Professional Worldwide has distanced itself from the lawsuit instituted by Kenechukwu Okeke against the senior pastor of Daystar Christian Centre Sam Adeyemi and 49 others.

Mr Okeke a self-acclaimed rights activist sued Adeyemi and others for allegedly fuelling the #EndSARS protest in October which he claims resulted in the destruction of his property.

In a statement on Wednesday signed by its president-general Maduabuchi Nwodo, the Igbo group appealed to Nigerians to disregard the suit.

The group alleged Okeke was being sponsored by those it described as “fifth columnists” to ruin President Muhammadu Buhari’s image.

Expressing shock over Okeke’s action, the group said the suit was “not only ill timed but also mischievous.”

“This, no doubt, is an anti-progressive and anti-people action that should not have the support of people yearning for a better Nigeria,” the statement read.

The group said contrary to the picture being painted by Okeke, his action had no blessing of the people from the south-east.

“Just as we are shocked at the action of Mr Kenechukwu, we are in utmost disbelief that an Igbo man could be used by some enemies of Nigeria to institute this evil action in court,” they said.
