Obafemi Awolowo’s Glasses Missing From Statue In Lagos (Photos)

A pair of glasses worn for the statue of the late statesman Obafemi Awolowo in Ikeja, Lagos has gone missing.

The glasses went missing last week following the unrest that greeted the #EndSARS protest.

Awolowo was the premier of the western region from 1954 to 1960.

He was always seen with the round-shaped glasses.

Former Lagos governor Akinwunmi Ambode erected the 20-feet statue in September 2017 on Obafemi Awolowo Way close to the Lagos Television (LTV) junction in Ikeja.

Mr Ambode had said the monument was erected to celebrate the legendary achievements and contributions of Awolowo to the development of the country.
