Lekki Shooting: 15 People Killed, Soldiers Took Their Bodies Away — DJ Switch

Popular female disc jockey DJ Switch on Friday denied saying 78 protesters died in the shooting carried out by men in military uniform at Lekki toll gate, Lagos on Tuesday night.

In a video posted on Instagram from a live session, she said: “Please, I never said 78 people died, I do not know that. I do know that as at the time I was doing the live video, seven people had died. When my battery died we had counted about 15 people.

“I don’t know if it was more than that because we had a lot of people that were hit by stray bullets. 78 people? I do not know where you got that information from.”

Born Obianuju Udeh, DJ Switch said she would continue the #EndSARS protest.

She urged protesters to keep their demonstration peaceful and not back down.

“We must continue to move because if we stop, it might take the next 60 years before we talk about this again. We must continue but we must continue peacefully,” she said.

“I condemn any sort of violence. I condemn the burning of buses and the source of people’s livelihood. I know we are angry but the most powerful weapon we have is peace. Let us continue, I cannot wait to come back because I will definitely be back on the street peacefully.”
