EndSARS: Amb. Igbokwe Expresses Concern Over Ikpeazu's 'Poor Treatment' of Youth Protests in Abia

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state has come under heavy criticism for “his poor handling of the endsars protests by youths in the state.”

A concerned stakeholder and prominent youth leader in the state, Mr Lucky Igbokwe said the governor left a bad taste in the mouth in refusing to attend to the grievances of the youths who had joined their peers across the country to protest against police brutality and dissatisfaction with governments at all levels

In a statement issued to the media from his U.S base, Mr Igbokwe expressed concern that, “Governor Ikpeazu will go down memory lane as one of, if not the only governor who couldn’t ordinarily face the youths of a state he ‘governs’, a governor who couldn’t spare a moment to listen to the agitations of the future of the state, not even an address, not even a word to hundreds of thousands of youths who most probably hitherto believed in him!”

He praised the peaceful conduct of the Abia youths who he said, showed solidarity against the current status quo, during their march in Umuahia, the state capital.

Mr Igbokwe also took a swipe at those accusing him of sponsoring the youths and some popular Abia celebrities, to ask for an end to police brutality.
“Its a slap on the face of those well meaning Abia youths and celebrities who voluntarily came out in their numbers to lend their voices to a national cause, to allege that they were motivated to cry out”
He said such accusations could only be imagined in Abia state

A United Nations peace ambassador, Mr Lucky Igbokwe commended the youths, while urging them to be law abiding and always express their disapproval within the ambits of the law
