Police Arrest #RevolutionNow Protesters In Lagos, Osogbo (Photos)

Police on Thursday arrested about 30 #RevolutionNow protesters in Lagos after they took to the streets to express their displeasure against bad governance in the country, Igbere TV reports.

In Lagos, the protesters marched from the streets of Ojota to Maryland, chanting songs of solidarity.

In Osogbo, Osun State capital, security operatives dispersed protesters who converged at Nelson Mandela Park, Old Garage around 9 am.

Despite the clampdown, the protesters regrouped at Oke-Fia junction and later marched through Old Garage, Orisunbare and Ola-Iya junction, chanting anti-government songs and distributing flyers stating reasons for their agitations.

Igbere TV reports that the Coalition for Revolution codenamed #RevolutionNow had urged President Muhammadu Buhari in a statement before the protest to resign.

The group is led by a former presidential candidate and publisher Omoyele Sowore.

“The Coalition for Revolution is calling on all Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora to come out en masse on, October 1, and participate in a massive peaceful protest to demand the reversal of anti-people policies implemented by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration,” the group had said.
