Dr Olarinde, father of the broadcaster Daddy Freeze, on Saturday clocked 75.
The radio talk show host born Ifedayo Olarinde penned an emotional message to his father on Instagram, praising his selflessness.
“Happy Birthday Dr. Olarinde, you have selflessly given your all to serve the public as a medical doctor,” he began.
“As a distinguished student who topped his class in Medical school (Your lecturers in Romania confirmed this to me), you could have easily chosen the path of prosperity. Instead, you offered your services to the poor, for little or no financial reward in return.
“You have always given and up until now continue to give to your extended family and to the society at large, with no expectations.”
Daddy Freeze further said as a teenager, he thought his father was wrong by denying them luxuries to serve humanity, adding that he knew better now.
“You were a good son to your late parents, I only hope that I can be half as good a son to you, as you were to them!” he said.
Daddy Freeze’s paternity was questioned recently after a cleric Pastor David Ibiyeomie rebuked him for his constant criticism of a senior cleric Bishop David Oyedepo.
The broadcaster was forced to share photos of his family to disprove Ibiyeomie’s claim he was a Somalian born on a ship with no identifiable father.
Freeze’s father Olarinde studied medicine in Romania where he met Smaranda who would later become the broadcaster’s mother.
Olarinde runs a private medical firm in Ibadan, Oyo State.
