Police have arrested Sunday Ukwejemifor, special assistant on security to Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, on charges of assassination attempt.
Mr Ukwejemifor is alleged to be involved in the attempted murder of a Sapele businessman Sunny Nwakego.
It was alleged he hired five persons from Port-Harcourt, Rivers State to assassinate the businessman.
It was reported on Friday that Delta police spokesperson Onome Onovwakpoyeya confirmed the arrest.
The governor’s aide has been on police watchlist since 2009 and has reportedly been fingered in cases of kidnapping, arson, unresolved murders and armed robbery.
