How Borno Gov, Others Crawled To Escape Death – Aide

Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum and others who were with him when his convoy was attacked by Boko Haram fighters en route to Baga had to crawl for their lives, an aide has revealed.

The governor’s special adviser on media Isa Gusau in an interview on BBC Hausa Service monitored by IGBERE TV on Thursday said the governor embarked on the trip on Wednesday based on information provided by soldiers that they had liberated the town from the hold of the jihadists.

“I was not there physically. The governor was heading to Baga from Munguno because the soldiers told him they have liberated Baga from the control of Boko Haram,” he said.

Mr Zulum was heading to some internally displaced persons camps when he was attacked.

Mr Gusau, however, said no life was lost but added that some of those in the convoy including policeman and government officials were injured.

“They crawled for a distance on their knees. They sustained injuries. The Boko Haram insurgents were shooting,” he said.
