BREAKING!!! NDDC Probe: Senate Panel Recommends Dissolution Of IMC

The Senate Ad hoc committee, probing allegation of financial recklessness in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), has recommended the dissolution of the Interim Management Committee (IMC), Igbere TV reports.

The lawmakers hinged their call for the sack of NDDC’s IMC on financial recklessness and also recommended that the agency should be returned to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) for proper supervision.

The senate which adopted the recommendations of its “Ad hoc Committee on the investigation of the alleged financial recklessness in the NDDC”, also ordered the current IMC to refund the N4.923billion it paid to staff and contractors in breach of the procurement process and approvals.

Noting that the Ministry of Niger Delta has no capacity to implement the forensic audit, the panel, chaired by Olubunmi Adetunmbi (Ekiti North), demanded that the Auditor General of the Federation should appoint internationally renowned audit experts to carry out the exercise.

Igbere TV reports that this comes exactly two weeks after the acting Managing Director of the NDDC, Kemebradikumo Pondei, admitted that the commission spent N1.5 billion for staff as ‘COVID-19 relief funds’.

He made this statement at the investigative hearing on the N40 billion corruption allegation against the commission.
