Tears As Flying Officer, Tolulope Arotile Laid To Rest In Abuja

The remains of Nigeria’s first female combat helicopter pilot Tolulope Arotile have been interred at the military cemetery in Abuja.

Arotile was buried with full military honours on Thursday as tributes pour in.

Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Abayomi Olonisakin and Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Abubakar Sadique among others paid their last respects.

Her remains were lowered into the grave around 11.05 am.

The Nigeria Air Force says the Kogi native was knocked down by a car on reverse at its base in Kaduna.

It said the driver of the vehicle Nehemiah Adejoh an ex-classmate of Arotile had no driver’s licence.

The NAF also said the case would be transferred to the police being a civil one.

Flying Officer Arotile was decorated last October as Nigeria’s first female combat helicopter pilot.
