Incarceration: I Hold No Grudges - Sen. Orji Kalu

Former Governor of Abia State and Chief Whip of the Nigerian Senate, Senator (Dr.) Orji Uzor Kalu, MON says he holds no grudge against anyone for his incarceration.

Kalu made the declaration while addressing supporters who had besieged his Abuja residence to welcome him, following his release from prison on Wednesday.

Speaking through the member representing Bende Federal Constituency, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, the Abia North Senator maintained that he is ready to give his support to the development of the country.

According to Hon. Kalu, Sen. Kalu’s prolonged stay in prison informed his decision to isolate himself in readiness for resumption of duty at the National Assembly, saying it is the same reason he(Kalu) cannot address the crowd himself.

“In line with the WHO and NCDC protocol, and as a man who is used to obeying the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, he (Kalu) has been in incarceration and just coming out,” he said.

“He wants to continue obeying the laws of the land in line with social distancing. He said a time will come for us to celebrate but for now, he is calling on us to maintain the protocol.

“Senator Kalu will not be addressing the mammoth crowd for now but in days to come, he will do that,” Hon. Benjamin Kalu added.

Sen. Orji Kalu also expressed gratitude to people of his immediate Constituency of Abia North, Abia State and Ndigbo at large for believing that justice should be done in his case.
