Court Dismisses Land Case By Chimamanda Adichie's Kinsmen

...

An Anambra High Court sitting at Neni has dismissed the application of the kinsmen of award-winning writer, Chimamanda Adichie, in a land dispute between Abba and Ukpo communities in Anambra State.

Adichie had severally claimed that a certain oil magnate in Ukpo was masterminding the takeover of her kinsmen’s land.

Some indigenes of Abba community approached the high court to bring in fresh witnesses/applicants in the feud which has lasted over five decades following the demise of former applicants on the matter.

Justice Onyinye Anumonye, however, rejected the application on Tuesday, saying the Supreme Court judgment on the matter on February 15, 2019, was final.

“The ruling of the Supreme Court is final and its finality is unchallengeable,” the judge said.

“The judgment of the Supreme Court on the consolidated matter before the Supreme Court on the 15th February 2019 dealt extensively on the issues in the Ukpo/Abba community case, which forms part of the issues in the motion before me.”
