How Delta continues to effectively manage the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on the economy of the state - Okowa speaks

Delta state governor, Ifeanyi Okowa joined Pastor Poju Oyemade Yesterday on ThePlatform to discuss how Delta State continues to effectively manage the #COVID19 pandemic, its impact on the economy of the state and the livelihood of people.

Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa disclosed that there were 17 cases of #COVID19 in Delta State, he, however, disclosed that the state govt have strengthened local capacity to limit the spread of the virus by setting up fully equipped isolation centres, instituting a mandatory curfew and establishing protective guidelines for residents

Gov. Okowa said, “As we look to the future — amidst the changes in Nigeria’s oil earnings and the economic impact of the lockdown, we are reviewing our state budget to ensure that we complete all critical infrastructure projects in the budget that have reached a certain level of completion.”

“To cushion the effects of #COVID19 on low-income families, we will readjust the 2020 budget to improve funding for the agricultural sector and social investment programs; as well as augment the current budgetary provisions for skills acquisition programs for vulnerable groups.”

The Delta state governor also applauded Pastor Poju Oyemade for the opportunity to engage on the issues as he once again reiterates the state govt resolve to do everything necessary to keep all people safe.
