Lebanese Who Offered To Sell Trafficked Nigerian Girl Arrested

The Lebanese government has arrested its national, Wael Jerro, for attempting to sell a Nigerian woman for $1,000 on Facebook.

Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, said this in a tweet on Thursday.

She emphasised the Lebanese government’s stance to institute legal action against Mr Jerro for human trafficking.

“Breaking news on Trafficked Nigerian girl for sale on Facebook by a Lebanese! The Lebenese Government just announced the arrest of Mr. WAEL JERRO for onward prosecution against criminal sales of a human, a young Nigerian girl,” she wrote.

Mrs Dabiri-Erewa did not say if the Nigerian woman, believed to be a native of Oyo State, has been rescued.

The Nigerian Mission in Lebanon had earlier demanded for immediate handover of the victim to the mission “unconditionally and in good health”.
