Buhari Summons Chinese Ambassador Over Maltreatment Of Nigerians In China

President Muhammad Buhari, through the ministery of foreign affairs has summoned the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Zhou Pingjian, over reports of maltreatment of Nigerians in China.

Nigerians in China have been posting videos on social media, alleging maltreatment in Guangzhou area of China.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, on Thursday met with Mr Pingjian over the issue.

In a tweet, Mr Onyeama said he urged the ambassador to speak with Chinese authorities to intervene in the matter.

No Nigerian has been reported dead in China since the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) broke out in Wuhan, China, last December.

More than 3,000 people have died in China according to official figures.
