Coronavirus: Okonjo Iweala Takes Part In Hand Washing Challenge

Former finance minister, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has joined the handwashing challenge to raise awareness over the coronavirus.

In a video posted on Twitter on Wednesday, Mrs Okonjo-Iweala is seen washing her hands with soap under a running tap. She then wipes her hands with a cloth after washing.

“Covid-19 is serious. I have taken up Dr Tedros’ hand washing challenge. Please wash your hands constantly and thoroughly and be safe,” she advised.

Among those she tagged in the post are the President of African Development Bank (AfDB), Akinwumi Adesina; CEO of Twitter, Jack Dorsey; and Beninese singer, Angelique Kidjo.

Globally, the virus has infected 184,976 people and killed just more than 7,500, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO).

Almost 80,000 people have recovered from the infection, according to data collected by Johns Hopkins University, Maryland, US.
