JUST IN: Quarantined Indian National Tests Negative To Coronavirus In Lagos

An Indian has tested negative for the coronavirus in Lagos, the state’s commissioner for health, Prof Akin Abayomi, revealed in a Twitter message on Thursday night.

Abayomi, however, did not state if the Indian is the Dangote Group contractor, which the company said was isolated over suspicion he had the virus.

“An Indian national that was admitted in our facility yesterday night with symptoms suggestive of #COVID19 has tested negative to #COVID19,” Abayomi tweeted.

He added that the unnamed man was doing well in isolation unit and that his case will be reviewed on Wednesday morning.

Dangote had in an official statement on Tuesday said “an Indian national who is a staff of Onshore Construction Company-a mechanical, electrical and instrumentation contracting firm that specializes in fertilizer construction reported at the site clinic complaining of high temperature and fever.”

He was screened and isolated immediately, after which state authorities were contacted.

“The patient was immediately conveyed to the Lagos Mainland hospital Center, where he is currently being isolated and undergoing tests,” the statement added.
