Italian With Coronavirus Has No Face, Name, Shehu Sani Mocks FG

Senator Shehu Sani has criticised the government’s handling of the identity of an Italian who first tested positive to coronavirus in Nigeria.

In a tweet on Monday, Sani mocked the government’s approach, saying he hoped the man was not a spirit.

“I hope this Italian is not a spirit from Ancient Rome; no name and no face yet,” he said.

The former federal lawmaker added in Pidgin English that Italy’s government would have revealed a photo if it were a Nigerian who brought the disease to its country.

“If na naija man carri corona go Italy, the Italy Govt for don put him photo and that of him mother and father and granny and even the monkey wey dey him village for dem newspaper,” he said.

The Italian is in isolation at the IDH quarantine centre in Lagos after falling ill and testing positive to the virus.

He arrived the country last Monday and visited Ogun during his short business trip.

Several persons he had contact with have been quarantined.
