JUST IN: DSS Speaks On Arresting CJN Tanko’s Sons

The Department of State Services (DSS) says that contrary to reports it did not arrest two sons of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Sirajo and Sanni Tanko.

An online newspaper, Observers Times, had reported on Monday that DSS operatives arrested the two men.

It also claimed that the news was revealed on Twitter by a former aide (name withheld) of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan.

The report said the arrest was to force CJN Muhammad Tanko to reverse the recent Supreme Court judgement overturning the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State.

It also said the former presidential aide confirmed that their phones were seized while their call logs and messages were searched.

The report claimed one of the two sons was released on bail while the other was still being held.

However, DSS spokesman, Peter Afunanya, denied the allegation, saying: “They were not arrested; we didn’t arrest the two sons of the CJN.”
