There has been a fire outbreak in the popular Balogun market on Lagos Island.
Eyewitnesses say the fire began from the building opposite Oluwole Car Park on Martins Street.
According to local reports, the fire has extended to no fewer than five structures but fire workers are currently battling with the inferno to avoid further damage.
It was learnt that traders and shop owners have been moving from quarter to another to rescue their goods from the inferno causing tension in the vicinity.
Some eye witnesses have taken to Twitter to upload videos showing fire engulfing from buildings as it extends in the crowded market.
Recall that this sad incident is happening barely days after a similar fire incident almost razed a timber market in the Mushin area of Lagos.
The last fire incident at Balogun market was in November 2019.
