Senior Pastor, Daystar Christian Centre, Sam Adeyemi, has thrown a veiled jibe at the General Overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), Daniel Olukoya, over his comments about Christmas.
Olukoya on Christmas Day said the church does not celebrate Christmas because it is unbiblical, a statement which caused a storm on social media among Nigerians.
MFM church says it will henceforth engage members in various spiritual activities during such periods and other public holidays to discourage them from partaking in such unscriptural celebration.
Adeyemi, without mentioning names, tweeted on Friday to say that the Christians are misguided in their approach to matters.
“The countries from where they brought Christianity to Nigeria celebrated Christmas with uninterrupted power supply. Some of us were quarrelling over whether eating Christmas chicken will make us go to heaven or not. Sense will ‘fall on us’ one day. I pray it won’t be long,” he said.
Adeyemi added: “I heard @AlikoDangote say that Egypt added 10,000 MW of electricity generation in 18 months. Nigeria has hardly added 2000 MW in 20 years despite spending more money. Instead, we have air pollution and noise pollution from generators, or darkness. Shouldn’t we be discussing this?.”
