Abia House of Assembly Moves to Slash ABSU Fees

Abia State House of Assembly led by Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji, has moved to slash the school fees of Abia State University, Igbere TV reports. 

This was made known during the Presentation of the Report of the House Committee on Education on indiscriminate increase in Fees/levies by the Abia State University.


Presenting the Report on Tuesday during Plenary,the Chairman of the Abia State House of Assembly Committee On Education, Hon Thomas Nkoro said the Wage of Bill of ABSU is 260 Million while the Subvention from the State Government Monthly is N100 Million but that the Institutions has not received the Subvention for some Months Now.


Igbere TV reports that the committee recommended that the Management of ABSU review downwards the fees paid by Students.


That the State Government should ensure that Funds appropriated to the Institution are released at when due.


He Proceeded to lay the Report on the Table.


The Leader of the House Hon.Solomon Akpulonu Moved that the House adopts the Report as a Working Document of the House, the Minority Leader Seconded the Motion while the House Members responded in the Affirmative when the Speaker Rt.Hon.Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji put the Motion into Vote.


The Committees Report was Subsequently committed to the House of Assembly Committee of the whole for further Legislative Action.
