Why We Met With President Buhari – APC Governors Finally Reveal

Thousands of APC members join PDP in Rivers

Thousands of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State yesterday joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

They were received in Opobo town by Rivers State PDP Chairman, Felix Obuah

The defection came a few days after over 400 APC members defected to the PDP at the Government Secondary School, Nkpolu Oroworukwu, in Port Harcourt City Local Government Area.

In his remarks, Obuah commended Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for matching his words with action on the Ogoni/Andoni/Opobo Unity Road.

He called on the people of Opobo Kingdom to show appreciation to Governor Wike for making the road project a reality, adding that the completion of the road will boost socio-economic activities in the town.

“How else can a Governor demonstrate unconditional love and affection for a people than to give them something they have yearned for centuries, a link into the world outside to give them a new lease of life?” he quipped.

He urged the people to reciprocate the gesture by giving their maximum support to the administration of Governor Wike.

Obuah further appealed to them of to take advantage of the ongoing Permanent Voters Registration exercise to get registered and support the PDP during the election.

Among those who decamped were Ngerebia Emmanuel, APC State officio member and President, Nkoro Solidarity Forum; Ibim Clement Ogolo, APC Youth Leader in Opobo/Nkoro from Ward 3 in Opobo, same ward with the APC 2015 governorship candidate, Dakuku Peterside; Dimeari Bellgam, APC Ward 4 Coordinator and Effort Dappa, APC Ward 8 Coordinator.

Reason why we met with Buhari – APC Governors

We met with Buhari to console him, not on 2019 – APC governors

Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), have said their mission to Daura, Katsina State, was merely to condole President Muhammadu Buhari over the loss of two members of his extended family.
The Chairman of the APC Governors’ Forum, Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, stated this while asnwering questions from newsmen after a closed-door meeting with President Buhari at his private residence in Daura, on Friday.
He dismissed media reports that their mission to Daura was aimed at convincing the president to seek re-election in the presidential election in 2019, adding that the governors also used the opportunity to commend the president for appointing Senator Bola Tinubu as the head of the APC reconciliation committee.
“We are yet to discuss 2019 elections. That would be in the next meeting where we will discuss whether we want to support him to run or not. “But for now we came on the issue of the death of his two relatives and to commend him for action taken on Tinubu as a conciliator,” he said.
Also speaking on the outcome of the meeting, Governor Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State, said they were in Daura to sympathise with the president over the involvement of his son, Yusuf, in a ghastly accident and the death of his two relatives.
He described the appointment of Tinubu as the APC chief mediator as a wonderful initiative by the president, adding,
“After the condolences, we had some very intimate discussion that further bound our relationships and affinity together and I believe this is a continuation of our closed association and support, loyalty and commitment to Mr President’s cause and Nigeria’s cause,” he said

2019: 2,000 APC members defect to PDP in Enugu

It was indeed a memorable day in Igbo Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State as over 2,000 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) defected to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
The defectors, who were led by the current Commissioner for Housing, Enugu State, Hon. Peter Okonkwo, came out in their thousands wielding brooms to denounce their former party.
Addressing the defectors, Executive Chairman of the council area, Comrade Uwakwe Ezeja, expressed joy over their decision to join a moving train.
Ezeja, who was represented by his deputy, Hon. Luke Uroko, explained that time had come for all opposition parties in the state to decamp to PDP in recognition of the good work of Governor Dr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.
In his words, “We welcome you all to the moving train, the PDP in this great state. Your defection to PDP is a true testimony of your recognition of the unprecedented developmental efforts of our amiable governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi. We therefore urge other opposition party members in the state to follow suit since the door is wide open for them”,
Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Mr. Adonis Ugwuanyija, explained that they took the step because of the giant strides of the governor in developmental projects coupled with the hardship the APC as a party has allegedly inflicted on the citizens.
Ugwuanyija, however, promised to support the state governor in developing the state with so much capital projects going on the state.
In a chat with our reporter, Commissioner for Housing, Hon. Peter Okonkwo, stressed that the state is so much blessed to have Ugwuanyi as their governor.
“We are blessed to have Dr. Ugwuanyi as the governor of Enugu state. Those who came to Nsukka town three years ago might not be able to recognize this again because of the rapid development currently going on. These former APC members were my royalists but today they have joined PDP to show their solidarity with the amiable and development-loved governor. I assure, more are coming to this fold. More will defect from their various opposition parties this moving training, PDP. This is just a tip of ice berg,” he said.

Buhari administration swimming in ocean of corruption – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party has condemned the Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, for saying corruption will return to the country if Nigerians vote out President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019.
The party tasked the minister to face his “luckless task of marketing a bad product,” and stop arrogating sainthood to anyone solely because of partisan solidarity.
Amaechi had claimed recently that corruption would return to the polity if President Muhammadu Buhari was not returned to office in 2019.
But the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan, in a statement in Abuja on Friday said Amaechi ought to know that “the Buhari administration is swimming in an ocean of corruption.”
Ologbondiyan challenged the former Rivers State governor to name one corrupt person in the PDP, adding that the party holds a dossier of officials in the President’s administration including former state governors, who he alleged looted their states, but are now “being protected” by the Buhari administration.
He said, “It is unfortunate that Amaechi and others like him are yet to come to terms with the fact that Nigerians now know that the APC deceived them into believing that they were saints.
“Amaechi’s approach is typical of an overwhelmed salesman of a rejected product who must engage in a shouting bout to gratify his desperate paymasters.
“By trying to re-enact the outworn APC propaganda of tagging others as corrupt while vainly posturing as saints, the campaign director has not only exposed their disdain for Nigerians but also the fact that the Presidency and the APC are now mortally afraid of the repositioned and re-oriented PDP ahead of the general elections.”

“I Didn’t See Him As Someone Who Would Marry My Daughter”; Rochas Okorocha Speaks On Son-In-Law

Governor Rochas Okorocha has said that the Chief of Staff Government House, Chief Uche Nwosu didn’t come to him as a Potential inlaw but came to him like most of such young men who had come to him to help them succeed in life, adding that right from the time the young man came to him, he didn’t know he would one day marry the daughter.

The governor who spoke on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 when the APC executives, leaders and traditional rulers from Oguta LGA visited him at the Government House to enlist their support for Uche Nwosu for the 2019 governorship contest in the State, stressing that his allowing a young man who served him to marry the daughter was to show that the son of a poor man could marry the daughter of a big man.

The governor remarked “I don’t sell my daughters. That was why I didn’t consider how wealthy or poor he was before I allowed him to marry my daughter even at the level God has placed me. I saw the hand of God in the whole thing. He has a future for himself. He has sincerity of purpose. He means well”.

He continued “Uche Nwosu possesses all the qualities to be a good governor. He can exercise regard for the poor. He can make sacrifice. My happiness at the end of this administration is to see a worthy successor. Someone who will not destroy free education and work for the State as if his life depends on that. I won’t impose anybody, but I am entitled to support anybody that I see can do the job”.

He further stated “people have been coming to say that they want Uche Nwosu in 2019. I am very democratic in my ways of doing things. Some people are coming up with the sentiments of zone, religion and so on, just to polarize our people. We won’t allow that. Imo people are one. And let the man who can deliver the goods be there”.

According to him, “Oguta people are key to the development of the State. I commend you for finding one of my political sons worthy to be a governor. The projects in Oguta will all be completed. The Ministry of Tourism has been relocated to Oguta to fast-track the development of the area. Peace has been restored in Oguta. I have no personal interest in all these”.

The leader of the Oguta delegation and former Majority leader in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Jones Uzoka said they came to present their resolution and urge him to support Chief Uche Nwosu to become the governor of the State in 2019, adding that Chief Nwosu has shown both in conduct and in action that he would be an ideal governor.

He congratulated the governor for his numerous achievements in the State, stating that the people of the State could not afford to allow the State to go back into the hands of those who wasted the resources of the State for years.
