Killer herdsmen: Sultan gives Miyetti Allah 2 month-ultimatum

Loading...

The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar has given Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders’ Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) two months to identify and apprehend herdsmen behind killings in Nigeria.

He gave the order during the formal swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected executives of MACBAN in Sokoto, on Tuesday.

The monarch also charged the leadership of MACBAN to find out whether Fulani herdsmen are actually responsible for the killings across the country or not.

The Sultan lamented the labelling of Fulanis as the killer herdsmen.

According to Abubakar, “To you the newly elected leadership of MACBAN, I want to remind you that your task is a very challenging one. Don’t forget that Fulanis are also being killed in Nigeria and no media attention is given to it.

According to Abubakar, “To you the newly elected leadership of MACBAN, I want to remind you that your task is a very challenging one. Don’t forget that Fulanis are also being killed in Nigeria and no media attention is given to it.

“However, we are giving you two months to go round the entire country and find out why Fulanis are accused of being behind the killings. Go and find out who are those Fulanis doing the killings. Also find out if it is other people that are doing the killings and are accusing the Fulanis. Please, we want to get the truth from you within two months.

“We are not ashamed to be called Fulanis because Fulanis are not trouble makers. Despite the fact that any wrong doing in Nigeria now is erroneously said to be caused by Fulanis.

“We however want people to know that though there might be bad ones amongst the Fulanis, just like there are in every race, that is not enough justification to generalise that all Fulanis are bad.”

Sisters Use Sex Video With Reverend Father To Blackmail Nun (pic)

Two sisters, Ngozi Nnabude (46) and Uchenna Agagwaonye (40), have been arrested for threatening the head teacher of Handmaids International Catholic School, Aguda Surulere, Rev Sister Mary Okolo (45), for being harsh to teachers. According to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, the case deals with a crime, conceived, planned and carefully executed by two women, who are blood relations.

Edgal said that investigation showed that Agagwaonye, a teacher in the school, was frustrated by what she termed the highhandedness of the nun.

Agagwaonye, who teaches primary four pupils in the school, said she didn’t realise that the text messages sent to Okolo were threatening. She said: “I have been teaching in that school for over 18 years. But Rev. Sister Okolo just joined us recently.

I run a part time programme with University of Lagos. Before I went for leave, I went through the normal process of applying for my annual leave. And when I resumed, N12,000 was deducted from my salary.

I went to plead with her concerning my salary, but said she would pay me when God touches her heart.” Agagwaonye explained that last year, there was also an incident, where the former headmistress asked all staff to revise the exam questions with the students before the examination, but the assistant head mistress reported to the new head mistress that Agagwaonye was engaging in examination malpractice.

Agagwaonye said it was a lie from the pit of hell against her. She added: “If I’m doing that kind of thing, how do I intend to teach the children morals? Six months later, we had an argument about the graduation. I was given a letter of suspension.

All these didn’t make me happy, so I was the one that told my sister to send the threatening text messages.” She further alleged that Okolo angrily sacked a security guard, after the latter caught her having sex with a Rev. Father. Okolo also allegedly sacked some other teachers.

“I don’t want to kidnap or kill her. I sent the messages to her so that she would calm down on her wickedness. I only told her I would make the video clip of her sex escapades public. I don’t even have any video, but the laptop repairer whom she gave her laptop to fix has video clips of her nudity.

I didn’t know it would be assumed that I was blackmailing her. I am not a Catholic,” Agagwaonye said. On her part, Nnabude said: “My sister took her annual leave to enable her write sit for her exams. When she resumed, Okolo deducted N12,000 from her salary.

The woman always uses harsh words on my sister and her colleagues. She even used to tell them that they didn’t have anybody to fight for them and that she would frustrate them all. My sister asked me to send a message to the nun.

I got involved in the case because it was my phone that was used to send her the messages. In the message, my sister talked about a sex tape. We didn’t threaten to kill her.”

Edgal noted that Agagwaonye decided to make life unbearable for Okolo by engaging her sister, Nnabude, a woman with an outstanding knowledge of computer and telephony.

The commissioner said that the sisters conspired to put the nun under constant fear and apprehension of imminent danger. When the threat to maim, kidnap, kill and expose her unfounded secret sex life was unbaiting, the Rev. Sister reported the matter to the command’s Anti-kidnapping Unit.

“The intelligence component of the command was directed to unmask those threatening her.

Investigations revealed that Agagwaonye’s role was to monitor Okolo and pass information gathered to her sister, Nnabude, who would then call Okolo on phone, describing her movement and clothes she wore. She would tell the petrified nun that, ‘you cannot hide from us! You’ll be killed soon’.

“Detectives investigating the case have been instructed to find out if the suspects have the capacity to carry out their threats, or if they are working with other criminals. The case will be charged to court as soon as the investigating is over.”

Villagers In Cross River Invoke Their Ancestral gods Over $1 Billion Project

Indigenes of Etab Ayip in Kasuk II Qua clan, Calabar Municipality, have invoked their ancestral god, Mbiam, to stop work on the proposed $1 billion Calabar Virgin City Project over an alleged encroachment on the community by the Cross River State Government.

Niger-Delta Voice learned that the Calabar Virgin City Project sited near the Rice City and Ayade Industrial Boulevard when completed, would have a building material market, auto parts market, wood market, water world fair ground and artificial lake as well as hospital.

Other facilities include a golf course, clothing market, hotel, supermarket, residential area auxiliary, dance square, kindergarten, primary and secondary schools

.Etap Ayip Kasuk II community, the landlord community which owns extensive portion of virgin land along the MCC/Idundu Road and Jonathan By-pass in Calabar Municipality has barred the state government from accessing large portion of the land purportedly acquired by the Ayade administration for the Calabar Virgin City Project.

Several indigenes of the area, mobilised by chiefs of the villages and traditional institution, took possession of the land, stringing palm fronds round the area and preventing anybody from accessing the land.

Speaking with NDV, the Clan Head of Kasuk II Qua Clan, HRH Ededem Ayito said they have no issues with the Ayade- led administration as far as the Virgin City Project was concerned but urged the government to do the right thing by doing proper consultation.

He asserted: “We, as a people can categorically tell you that we are not aware of what the government is doing on our land as far as the Virgin City Project is concerned, we were not consulted by government or any of its representatives.“In all honesty and fairness, when the government came to intimate us about the project last year, they did not give us full details of the dimension and size of land they needed, neither did they tell us the nature of the project but as a community that has respect for constituted authority, we allowed the groundbreaking ceremony to hold in December after which we thought they would come back and do the needful.

“But we were surprised when we saw equipment moved into the place and excavation started without proper consultation. Since we had waited for them since last year and they did not come, we resorted to our culture and tradition. We invoked a traditional injunction, Mbiam, on the parcel of land and it will remain there until the right thing is done.

“We are not against development; contrary to rumours and speculations making the rounds that we are mobilising to stop government, they are not true. The only thing we are asking is that due process be followed. If the facilitator is a private company, they should come out plain and let us know, if the government wants to acquire the land based on overriding public interest, they should also tell us what they want to use it for before bringing in equipment.

“We, the people of Kasuk Qua Clan II are responsible and law-abiding citizens and will never take laws into our hands. The traditional injunction (Mbiam/Ekpe) we placed is our own way of making our position on the matter known. We are not against the government of Prof. Ben Ayade in any way but we want them to follow due process and do the right thing.”

War of Words: President Trump Is ‘morally unfit’ to be president – Fired FBI director says

U.S. President Donald Trump is “morally unfit” to be president, former FBI director James Comey charged in an interview broadcast on Sunday night.Comey said anyone who can see “moral equivalence” in protests by white supremacists and people who oppose them, who treats women like “pieces of meat” and who “lies constantly” and insists Americans believe it is “not fit to be president of the United States on moral grounds,” Comey said in the interview on ABC.
The man who served as Trump’s FBI director until the president fired him in May said the truth, the rule of law and integrity were “things [that] matter before any fights about policies” like whether the U.S. should build a border wall or more strictly regulate the sale guns.
He said he isn’t hoping for Trump’s impeachment because that would “let the American people off the hook.”
“He believes Americans are “duty bound” to “go to the voting booth and vote their values.”
The interview was Comey’s first ahead of the publication on Tuesday of “A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies and Leadership,” his book about his short tenure in the Trump administration.
Excerpts of the book released last week paint a devastating portrait of the president as a congenital liar and an unethical leader, and it already has Trump’s attention.
It was the subject of five of eight tweets the president sent Sunday morning.
Comey spoke in the interview about a “dossier” containing raw intelligence on Trump’s connections with Russians.
He said it was raised in his first meeting with Trump shortly after the election in which Russian meddling in theU.S. presidential election was discussed.
Comey said he believed from the outset in the credibility of the source who wrote the dossier, former a British intelligence officer Christopher Steele.
Because of that Comey said he believed it “was important that we try to understand [the dossier], and see what could we verify.”
The dossier includes salacious details about Trump’s alleged behaviour with prostitutes in Moscow in 2013.
It raises the possibility that the Russians had filmed Trump and could use the recording to blackmail him.
He said he thinks it’s possible the Russians have something that could compromise Trump.
“It is stunning and I wish I wasn’t saying it, but it’s just – it’s the truth,” he said, but added, “It always struck me and still strikes me as unlikely.”
Trump has slammed the dossier as fake and a disgrace.
Comey also said that when Trump said, “I hope you can let it go” during a subsequent meeting at which an investigation into Michael Flynn, Trump’s first national security adviser, was raised, he took that as a “direction,” which he said “certainly (is) some evidence of obstruction of justice.”
The former FBI director reiterated that Trump asked for his loyalty, saying it reminded him of how mafia bosses operate. But Comey, an appointee of Trump’s predecessor Barack Obama, told him his loyalty is supposed to be to the American people and the FBI.
There was no reaction from Trump after the interview but his pre-emptive tweets made clear his thoughts.
He called Comey a “slime ball” and said he would go down as the worst FBI director in history.
The assertion that Trump demanded loyalty was “another of his many lies,” Trump tweeted.
He had already attacked Comey on Friday, calling him “a proven LEAKER & LIAR” who should be prosecuted for leaking classified information.
Trump said Comey’s book fails to answer questions about why the Justice Department didn’t prosecute Hillary Clinton for using a private email server while serving as secretary of state.
Comey in the interview stood by decisions he made regarding Clinton during the campaign – first not to prosecute and then to re-open the investigation 10 days before the election, only to close it again a day or two prior to the vote.
He said his choice of words in deciding not to prosecute her was a mistake.
Comey said they should have conveyed that what she did was more than just an ordinary mistake, but was not criminal behaviour.
He re-opened the case after some of her emails were discovered on the server of her closest aide’s husband, who was being prosecuted in a sexting case.
Clinton has asserted that she would have been elected president if Comey hadn’t re-opened the investigation. (NAN).

The ICC President’s Official Visit : The Stake Of Nigeria Integrity

ICC President’s Official Visit To Accused State Of Nigeria: A Threat Capable Of Undermining Independence And Integrity Of The Court.

(Intersociety Nigeria: 15th April 2018) – The leadership of Int’l Society for Civil Liberties & the Rule of Law is deeply worried and dismayed by the recent official visit to Nigeria, an accused State-Party, by the newly elected President of the Int’l Criminal Court (ICC), Igbo-Nigerian born Chile Eboe-Osuji.
Judge Osuji, from Imo State, Southeast Nigeria, was elected as new President of ICC on 11th March 2018 for tenure of three years (2018-2021). Nigeria presently has eight cases at preliminary investigative stages pending against it and its Boko Haram terror group before the ICC and more cases of heinous rights abuses are being compiled across the country by various victim groups against the perpetrators.
It must be clearly stated here that the right of the Nigerian born ICC President to visit his mother country (Nigeria) including his Igbo Ethnic Nationality in private capacity is sacredly intact and inviolable. But his recent official or “State Visit” to Nigeria is not only uncalled for, but also capable of undermining the independence, impartiality and integrity of the world permanent criminal Court. It also impeaches the law of natural justice particularly the grand principles of neutrality, fairness, impartiality, independence and integrity; upon which the ICC was established twenty years ago in 1998 through the instrumentality of the Rome Statute.
ICC Presidents, elected through Electoral College or among “judges sitting in plenary session” are not elected to embark on shuttling or lobbying missions and courtesy calls especially to member-States or State-Parties and their leaders strongly accused of regime atrocities or crimes against humanity, war crimes and genocide. The Constitutive provisions of the Rome Statute of 1998 setting up the ICC contain sufficient “sovereign rights and remedies” for the accused State-Parties to be properly heard and defend themselves when called upon.
These include the grand principles of “Complementarity and No Impunity”; under which member-States or State-Parties can reject impunity for perpetrators of regime atrocities such as crimes against humanity, war crimes and genocide and take further concrete steps at punishing them in conformity with international best practices through legitimate processes of investigation, arrest, detention, prosecution, conviction and sentencing as well as treatment, rehabilitation and compensation of the victims including the wounded and families of the slain and reconstruction of victims’ properties and public infrastructures devastated or destroyed by the aggressors or perpetrators.
An accused State-Party also has right of communication and fair hearing during preliminary and substantive investigation of its accused officials by the ICC as well as rights of fair hearing, defence and appeal during the pre-trial and trial or prosecution and after conviction stages involving its indicted officials. Rights of review, exit, suspension and re-entry of membership into ICC are also available for all State-Parties including the accused.
However, such rights do not include the referral powers of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) under Chapter Seven of its Charter (i.e. referring any member-State of UN, whether as a State-Party or non State-Party to ICC for investigation and prosecution of its accused officials by the Prosecutor of ICC; who are accused of committing crimes against humanity, war crimes or genocide against its defenceless civilian population, in part or in whole). This was the case in Sudan in March 2005 through UNSC Resolution 1593 for investigation of President Omar Hassan al-Bashir and other officials of the State on accusations of war crimes and crimes against humanity and genocide and other regime atrocities committed in the country’s Darfur Region.

Specifically, those fingered in the shooting and killing of not less than 400 unarmed pro Biafra activists and hundreds of others shot and injured are still under the State protection since 2015. Those responsible for the death of over 1,130 unarmed Shiite members and supporters as well as hundreds of others shot and injured since December 2015 are still under State protection.
Those responsible for bombing and killing of 236 Christian IDPs in Borno and over 50 rural Christians in Adamawa States on 17th January and 4th December 2017 are still under State protection; likewise those that masterminded the death in military custody inside the Giwa Barracks in Borno State in 2016 of 240 civilians including 29 children between newborn and five years. Till date, all the perpetrators or masterminds in the ongoing Fulani terrorism across Nigeria which have led to killing of not less than 4000 mostly Christians since June 2015 are still protected by the State; with none of them facing trial or diligent prosecution till date.
The present central Government in Nigeria is also recklessly and indiscriminately freeing scores of Boko Haram terror suspects duly investigated, indicted and arraigned in courts since 2013. This is done using prosecutorial technicalities and questionable presidential swap and amnesty deals.Yet, the same Government turns around to persecute unarmed citizens particularly those of Southeast and South-south parts of Nigeria on account of their faith and ethnicity using trumped up charges, long pre-trial detention and unlawful killing, torture and other cruel, inhuman and degrading punishments or treatments.
A clear case in point is the ongoing pre-trial detention of some defenceless citizens of Igbo Ethnic Nationality/Pro Biafra activists since 2015 without proper trial till date as well as vindictive and trumped up charges slammed against them. The central Government of Nigeria also ordered and supervised the killing and maiming of hundreds of them simply because they called for a statehood or geographical reorganization of Nigeria using nonviolence.
The ICC which presently has 123 State-Parties and several signees is hereby called upon not to compromise its integrity and independence by allowing itself to be intimidated and its works undermined by Africa’s genocidal leaders and their agents who go about recklessly and brazenly; perpetrating atrocity crimes in office against their defenceless civilian populations.
It is on record that countries where preliminary and substantive criminal investigations or prosecutions are ongoing or carried out by ICC are those with most atrocious political records and atrocity crimes perpetrated by their State and non State actors. It remains an irrefutable fact that credible democratic countries and their leaders irrespective of continent of origin have nothing to fear over the ICC and its noble tasks of ensuring an end to global impunity in the corridors of power.

Granted that there is need for continuous reform of the ICC especially in the areas of finding common grounds including common definition of Crimes of Aggression as well as ensuring deterrence against external aggressors with respect to their overbearing military influence against lesser powerful nations and territories; with the exception being military activities carried out under UN or regional grouping’s backed peace support operations; but it is the African Continent that direly need urgent and comprehensive political and leadership reforms so as to make themselves less attractive to ICC searchlight and sanctions.
Throughout the ages, sanctions had periodically been visited against perpetrators of most heinous crimes against the human race. In the 40s, there were sanctions visited against 2nd World War criminals in Europe and Asia including Germany and Japan. In the 90s and 200s, sanctions were visited against war criminals in former Yugoslavia, Liberia and Rwanda. Recently, such were also visited against war criminals in DRC, Uganda, Ivory Coast as well as former President of Chad recently convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment by an African regional criminal court.
As it stands now, the ICC has secured very few convictions and consolidated its protracted investigations in Congo DRC, Sudan, Darfur, Central African Republic, Kenya, Libya, Uganda, Ivory Coast, Mali, Burundi and Republic of Georgia. Preliminary investigations have also been opened in Columbia, Afghanistan, Gabon, Guinea, Palestine, Iraq, Philippines, Venezuela, Ukraine and Nigeria.
In all these, the ICC has not done enough in commensuration of its mandates, yearnings and expectations of the victim populations and generality of the people around the world. The Court must go beyond its present protracted investigations and fanfare shuttling and handshake of the graveyard with accused State-Parties. The long delays by the Court in meeting the yearnings and expectations of the global populations especially the growing victims of State atrocity crimes may most likely push the Court to the brinks if care is not taken.
Already the global influence of the Court is beginning to wane across countries and regions. This is on account of its snail pace and perceived rubber stamp status. There are cases still pending before the Court for almost, if not up to ten years or more. Other tasking challenges facing the ICC are occasioned by poor investigations and generation of watery evidence and fragility associated with poor witness management including profiling.

While ICC continuously rigmaroles and craws, its space and influence are speedily on decline; taking over by emerging regional and municipal courts assuming int’l civil and criminal jurisdictions over human crimes of heinous nature. A clear case in point is the Dakar based African Special Criminal Court for Chad which had in May 2016 secured conviction and life sentence against former President Hissene Habre of Chad; over his heinous abuse of human rights including rape, sexual slavery, torture and ordering for massacre of thousands of civilians during his days as military president of Chad from 1982 to 1990. In the USA State of Philadelphia, its Federal Courthouse sat for just one year (2016-2017) and convicted Mohammed Jabbateh over his ignorable roles in the Liberian Civil War of 1989-1997 where he was a leader of the National Patriotic Front of Liberia or NPFL.
ICC must therefore sit up and protect its independence, impartiality and integrity globally before it is swallowed and overshadowed by the rising influence, acceptability and popularity of emerging municipal courts speedily assuming international civil and criminal jurisdictions in matters of heinous human rights violations and abuses across the world.
By joint advocacy accounts of the Civitas Maxima and Global Justice & Research Project groups 2018, Courts in USA, Belgium, Switzerland, UK, etc now assume both criminal and civil international jurisdictions over heinous or atrocity crimes committed against civilian populations by atrocity perpetrators in foreign countries. Key Liberian war criminals including Jucontee Woewiyu (former leader of NPFL), Agnes Taylor (wife of Charles Taylor), Martina Johnson (former commander of NPFL) and Alieu Kosiah (former commander of ULIMO) are billed to face trials this year in various municipal courts located in USA, Belgium, Switzerland and UK for their atrocious or ignorable roles during the Liberian Civil War of 1989-1997.

Similarly, Mrs Esther Kiobel, wife of one of the slain Ogoni Nine (Dr. Berinem Kiobel) had also filed a civil claimant suit in far away Netherlands against the Royal Dutch Shell PLC for its complicity in unlawful arrest, detention and death of her husband, late Dr. Berinem Kiobel who was hanged alongside other Ogoni Eight in 1995 during the darkest era of military incursion into Nigerian political space. The civil suit was instituted in 2017 in Netherlands where the Royal Dutch Shell is registered. Earlier in 2009, the Royal Dutch Shell paid $15.5m to settle lawsuit brought against it by the now late son of the slain leader of Ogoni Nine, Ken Saro-Wiwa (Ken Saro-Wiwa Jr.) and others including the brother of late Ken Saro-Wiwa (Snr.). 2018 UTME: JAMB speaks on admission cut-off marks

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has spoken on the purported cut-off marks being circulated in some section of the media.

The board’s Head of Media and Information Department, Dr Fabian Benjamin debunked the report saying no cut-off mark whether for programmes or institutions had been released by JAMB

Benjamin announced that cut off marks would be disclosed sometime in June after policy meeting.

He warned that any institution that begins admission process before the policy meeting would be acting illegally and that it would attract consequences

In a statement, Benjamin said “we want to seize this medium to debunk such rumours as they are malicious and wicked as they are designed to defraud innocent Nigerians, especially parents and guardians as well as other stakeholders.

“No cut-off marks will ever be decided upon without the usual policy meeting which has been scheduled to hold sometime in June and which is to be chaired by the Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu.

Until that is done, every other thing that is being paraded as cut-off mark is fictitious and therefore, the public is hereby warned not to fall prey to these fraudsters.

“In the same vein, any institution that has commenced any form of admission without the official cut-off mark as would be decided upon at the June policy meeting is doing so illegally.”

What I Will Do To The Igbos – Sahara Reporters Founder Boasted

What I Will Do To Igbos If I Become President – SaharaReporters Founder, Sowore

Omoyele Sowore, graduate of the University of Lagos, Akoka will extend the olive branch to the South-easterners if he is voted in as President in 2019.
Omoyele Sowore, publisher of Sahara Reporters and a presidential hopeful has disclosed what he will do to Igbos of the South-East should he become the leader of the country in the forth coming general election.

The publisher who is currently holding town hall meetings and consultations across the country over his political ambition said he is going to give the Igbos a sense of belonging by firstly apologizing on behalf of the country for the way they have been maltreated since the civil war ended.

Sowore stated this in Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital on April 7, while addressing supporters who turned out to welcome him to the city.

“From the bottom of my heart, the Igbo man has not just be marginalised, the Igbo man has been trampled upon, their children killed, starved in the civil war and ever since then Nigeria has managed not to pay attention to Igboland,” he said while answering a question on how he hopes to manage the south-easterners and their Biafran mindset.

He continued: “But the Igbo man and his spirit has managed to built for himself the spirit that conquers the world. I will say to you that first and foremost when I become president I’m going to apologize to the Igbos on behalf of Nigeria”, he said amidst applause that greeted his response.
