OMPAN is a Dependable Ally in the Fight Against Crime in Nigeria - CRS Police Commissioner (Photos)

The Commissioner of Police, Cross River State Command has acknowledged online media’s efforts in assisting his campaign against crime, cultism and communal clashes in the state.
The Commissioner, CP Hafiz Inuwa stated this during a courtesy call by members of Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria, OMPAN Cross River State chapter at his office in Diamond Hill, Calabar last Thursday.

 The Commissioner of Police, Cross River State Command has acknowledged online media’s efforts in assisting his campaign against crime, cultism and communal clashes in the state.
The Commissioner, CP Hafiz Inuwa stated this during a courtesy call by members of Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria, OMPAN Cross River State chapter at his office in Diamond Hill, Calabar last Thursday.
He said, “I must acknowledge your efforts, especially the online media in assisting my campaign against cultism, robbery, inter and intra communal clashes in the state”.
Acknowledging OMPAN’s contributions to online journalism, CP Hafiz said, “We will continue to partner with one another, and I want to assure you that the Cross River State Police Command under my watch will give you full assistance and cooperation. The confidentiality of your information is guaranteed”.
CP Inuwa further stated that Journalists and legal practitioners have assisted in getting real time information, reporting crime scenes as he promised to bring back the lost glory of the State. “Cross River State is known to be a peaceful state, and till now remains the most peaceful state in Niger Delta.
“It was like hell when I came, but gradually we are fighting crime by soliciting the incorporation of media, especially the Online Media, community leaders and stakeholders.
“I want Cross River State to be the most peaceful state in the entire Nigeria. I want to bring back the lost glory of the state in terms of peace. Cross Riverians have been supportive in giving us information, but we still need more for information is the key to fighting crime and other social vices”.
The Commissioner also urged OMPAN members to put efforts to expose quacks and push them out of online media space. “Please, I want you people that are responsible and mean well for the state to put efforts to expose quacks and push them out of online journalism – let them not tarnish the image of the state or the nation.
“If the image of Nigeria is tarnish, it will scare away investors, reducing the rate of growth and development”, Inuwa said.
The Chairman of OMPAN, Cross River State chapter adjudging the support and acknowledgment by the Commissioner of Police said that he has brought his colleagues to acknowledge, identify and seek the partnership of the Nigerian Police under his command. Earlier, Nyok while commending Hafiz noted that, ‘it must be acknowledged that with your taking over the reins of the Cross River Command of the Nigerian Police, crime rate, communal disputes, and the like had experienced a commendable decline.
‘We sincerely acknowledge your efforts in Cross River’, Nyok concluded.
