Former governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu has blasted former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo for accusing him of buying houses in USA with Abia state fund.
Dr. Orji Kalu blasted Obasanjo and called him a common criminal who came into power with only 20,000 naira but left power with billions of naira which he stole from Nigerians when he was the president of the country.
He stated this during an interview with IGBERE TV.
According to him,
“He (Obasanjo) told Bush and Tony Blair that I bought a house in overseas but they found out that it was a lie”.
“That I bought a house in London in 1991. And I sold my house at Massachusetts in Boston, 19/21 Firstin District to be precise at the price of 3.8 million dollars and went to Potomac to buy another house for 1. 2 million dollars in 2003 and still have a balance of 2.6 million dollars. ”
” So, how come? He wrote to President Bush that in your Backyard, my governor bought a house in Washington DC where you live as a President. Can you confiscate it? The American intelligence and security agencies looked at his claims and discovered they were lies”.
“Will I not buy a house because am a governor? When I bought a house, I wrote to the code of conduct that I have bought a new house and gave them the address of the house and told them the reason behind me buying the new house”.
“I sold the property and vowed not to do that kind of business again, then I was already a governor and the house Obasanjo is talking about was bought in 1992. That was even before I became a governor of Abia State”.
“I told them that the people living close to my former house made me to sell the house and purchased a new house because they were making me to go to court every time. That’s the welfare people “.
“Every day, they will fall an ice and they made me to be paying for it and I said no, enough is enough, I can’t be going to court every day. I sold the property and vowed not to do that kind of business again, then I was already a governor and the house Obasanjo is talking about was bought in 1992. That was even before I became a governor of Abia State”.
“I made every thing open and granted interview when I bought the house. It was not a hidden agender. I invited the Nigerian ambassadors and Nigerian Embassy, they came and ate with me. The house was bought with my name”.
“I lived in Victoria Island, Houston, London and North Carolina before I became a governor. So, I don’t know why Obasanjo is ranting because I have a house in Overseas”.
“Obasanjo is just a common criminal on the street, because he came to power with only 20,000 naira. All his bills throughout when he was in prison were paid by me”.
“He was sleeping in my house in Victoria island, how can I became thief immediately he was the president?”
“I want President Buhari to probe him and all the governors he used in stealing our money. That’s the only way I will know President Buhari is fighting corruption through Magu”.
Dr.Orji Kalu also revealed that when PDP had no money in 1998, he gave the party five hundred million naira as a loan in order for them to run an election during that time.
“I brought out five hundred million naira and gave to the party as a loan because PDP had no money to run for an election throughout the whole 36 states of the Federation”.
“I gave Obasanjo one hundred million naira which he cashed at first bank in Ota, Ogun State free of charge. So how can I be thief today? How can it be possible for me to steal 2 billion naira today? ”
” This man(Obasanjo) wanted to arrest my mother because he taught he will get me through that. He sent the shameless Nihu Ribadu to go and arrest my mother. Nigerians should be grateful to Former President of America, Bush for coming out openly to warn Obasanjo”,he said
