Dino Melaye: What We Saw at the National Hospital - Sen. Ohuabunwa (Photos)

Senator MAO Ohuabunwa representing Abia North Senatorial District has reacted on the Communal Crisis between Arochukwu LGA in Abia state and Cross River state community and also spoke about Senator Dino Melaye’s Ordeal.

The senator told Igbere TV correspondent who paid him a visit at the National Assembly in Abuja that he has taken the bull by the horn in order to stop the crisis happening between a community in Arochukwu and Cross River state.

According to him, ” as an illustrious son of Arochukwu and a senator representing my people in the National Assembly, I have called the DPO, CPC, Deputy Governor, and the governor. We have been talking about the need to stop the crisis, and also the need to send policemen and soldiers to the affected areas”.

“But since the policemen and soldiers cannot move to those areas without a directive from the federal government, that was why I decided to move a motion on the floor today”.

” I told them to send the policemen and soldiers to resolve the crisis and give the people the sense of security. We have also set up a committee which I am also part of and we have been discussing on how we can equally resolve the crisis from escalating.”

“Finally on the motion, is the need for NEMA to move to those areas with relief materials. The two affected communities are Isu in Arochukwu, Abia State and Ituma in Cross state . The senate ought to have concluded the motion today but because of Dino Melaye’s arrest, we couldn’t.”

Speaking on Dino Melaye’s ordeal, the senator said that how Senator Dino Melaye is being treated is a national embarrassment on Nigeria and the senate as well.

In his words,

“What has been happening in the Senate and National Assembly for the past few days is unfortunate and also a rape on democracy because without the parliament, there is no democracy. From stealing of mace at the National Assembly to arresting a serving Senator and equally treating him as if he is a common criminal”

“You cannot treat a serving Senator like a common criminal while the real criminals are walking freely on the street. They should allow the court to do their own part instead of diagracing Senator Dino Melaye. It is very bad”.

“There are procedures which should be followed before a serving Senator should be arrested but it is very bad that the police are not following the necessary procedures. Dino Melaye comes on the floor on daily basis, he is not running anywhere. He is someone that likes to talk against injustice”.

Senator MAO Ohuabunwa also debunked the rumour that Senator Dino Melaye is being chained on the hospital bed in order for him not to run away. There are photos of Melaye on Handcuffs in hospital bed trending now online.

” I want to tell you that Senator Dino Melaye is not chained or handcuffed on hospital bed ” He is currently receiving good medical care at the hospital when the senators visited him” He talked to us and recognized us, although he needs a lot of rest in order to recover quickly ”

Finally, Senator MAO Ohuabunwa assured Abia North Senatorial District that they should not be afraid or panic because he is representing them very well and all their needs will be attended to.

Members of Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria OMPAN, (IGBERE TV and AbiaBreakingNews reporters) visited the Natiinal Assembly today after they were blocked by over zealous police operatives at the National Hospital from seeing Sen. Dino Melaye.
