BREAKING NEWS!!! "Stop Killing IPOB Members", S'East Govs Send Strong Warning to FG

Abakaliki- South East Governors Forum have issued a sterm warning to Federal Government asking them to quench the incessant killings and high level of brutality of IPOB members in the region who they tagged innocent, lawful and peaceful.

Governor Dave Umahi the chairman of South East Governors forum made this known at Abakaliki shortly after an emergency meeting of the south East Governors Forum held at Ebonyi State Government house Abakaliki on Wednesday 6th September 2017. The meeting which lasted for 2hours where attended by all the governors of the 5 states.

Governor Dave Umahi in his words while addressing news men in front of Ebonyi State Government House Abakaliki said “We are calling on the Federal Government to put to a stop the incessant killings, brutal torture and unlawful imprisonment of innocent IPOB members by the military in our region”.
The governor who frowned on the manner the federal government is maltreating the region said they have written several times to the military commanders in the region inviting them for a meeting but they have rebuffed the invitations insisting that they are subjected under Federal Government and not State Government, he also stated that the South East Governors forum have also written to the office of Chief of Army Staff but he gave deaf ears to their calls.

Stating why the meeting was called he said “We have to call this emergency meeting and this communique issued because of the recent killing of a tricycle driver in Umuahia by soldiers attached to 14 Brigade of 145 Battalion Umuahia on the eve of 4th September 2017.

I reaction to the communique the Ebonyi State Commissioner for Information and State Orientation Senator Emmanuel Onwe who was present at the meeting said the intimidation been melted on Civilians in the region especially lawful and peaceful IPOB members by the police and military is alarming and there’s a need to put a stop to it because the military is trying to turn the peace loving region to a war zone.
