Why We Are Yet To Rescue Siasia’s Mother — Police

Police in Bayelsa State have said that the “changing of locations” of the suspected kidnappers of the mother of former Nigeria international, Samson Siasia, has made it difficult for rescue operations.

Bayelsa police commissioner, Uche Anozia, said this on Friday as an update on attempts to rescue Beauty Siasia.

Mrs Siasia has spent 62 days in her abductors’ custody after she was kidnapped on July 15 in Odoni community, Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa.

Siasia’s mother had earlier been kidnapped in November 2015, spending 13 days with her kidnappers until a ransom of about N600,000 was allegedly paid.

Mr Anozia explained that police operatives had shortly after her abduction “sourced for useful information that gave investigators a promising lead to some locations within the creeks where the victim may have been kept.”

He added: “The police have been trailing the abductors in spite of the fact that they have been changing locations.

“The fundamental aspect of our operations that is of interest to us is the achievement of positive result and not actually occasional dissemination of information concerning efforts being made by the police to achieve such result. This is why we have not been coming on air to update the public.”

The CP, however, said the police command’s technical team was working in collaboration with other security agencies to rescue her.

Siasia recently told newsmen that his mother’s kidnappers had not set her free despite receiving N1.5 million ransom.

He said the abductors released his cousin’s mother-in-law, Florence Douanana, 66, and also took in an unnamed person who delivered the money to them.
