Zimbabwe’s former president, Robert Mugabe is dead, Igbere TV has learnt. He died at 95.
Igbere TV gathered that the former African leader died in Singapore, where he was seeking treatment.
President of Zimbabwe, Emmerson Mnangagwa, confirmed the development in a statement early Friday.
“It is with the utmost sadness that I announce the passing on of Zimbabwe’s founding father and former President, Cde Robert Mugabe,” Mnangagwa wrote on Twitter.
“His contribution to the history of our nation and continent will never be forgotten. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” he added.
