Ministerial Reappointment: Ohaneze Youths Commend Presidency, Congratulate Onyeama

Ohaneze Youth Council (OYC), an apex Igbo socio-cultural group in Nigeria has commend President Muhammadu Buhari over the reappointment of Godfrey Onyeama, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs, for the Enugu State slot, Igbere TV reports.

Igbere TV reports that the group made this known at a meeting held In Enugu, the state capital yesterday.

Comrade Emmanuel Ozoani, the state chairman while expressing satisfaction with the appointment affirmed that Mr. Onyeama’s untainted and leadership dispositions prepared him for the challenges of the current national assignment. Adding that his reappointment has just confirmed that he proved his worth in the first term as a minister.

“As a son of our dear Enugu State, Godfrey Onyeama has proved his mettle by emerging among the 12 returned ministers of the Federal Government. This is because in his first term under Mr President, he performed extremely well, hence his reappointment.

He was able to redeem the image of our dear country Nigeria in his first tenure, and today, Nigerians are increasingly being accepted in the international community.

Today, several of our countrymen abroad are holding political offices, or have been appointed into very important offices. This is to show the level of confidence they have in us, and it’s no mean feat. “As we congratulate him, we also commend Mr President for finding him worthy of this office,” Ozoani said.

Ozoani equally called on Igbo political leaders jettison the limitations of political affiliation and work together for the overall development of South East geologist zone and other Igbo towns outside the zone.

“Our political leaders should realize that elections are over and it’s time for governance. We call on them to unite and work as ‘umunne’ to develop ala Igbo.

With the level of underdevelopment of our geographical zone, we cannot afford to continue as a broken society. Our political leaders must stand together and realize that the times are leaving us behind. The sooner we begin to work together without recourse to party affiliation, the better for us all as a people”.

Speaking on security, the youth leader stated:

“OYC is alarmed with the rising case of insecurity across the country, and in ala Igbo in particular. We hereby call on Mr President that members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) be henceforth trained as professional security operatives, and permitted to make use of security gadgets where the need arises.

Corp members are capable of serving in the remotest areas of the country and if they are trained, they will play a very significant role in curbing the menace of security in the country”.
