The National and State Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Kaduna has dismissed the petition of Shehu Sani of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) challenging the victory of Uba Sani of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Uba was elected Kaduna Central Senator on February 23.
Chairman of the tribunal, Justice A. H. Suleiman, ruled in a two-hour judgement on Wednesday that the petition lacked merit.
Suleiman described the sitting as successful based on evidence presented to the tribunal.
Uba’s lead counsel, Frank Ikpe, said the tribunal upheld the election of the APC senator based on the evidence before it.
Uba’s second lead counsel, Sulaiman Shu’aibu, described the judgement as appropriate, urging those that are not satisfied with the verdict to go to the Court of Appeal.
