Buhari Creates New Ministries, Retains Petroleum (See List)

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday swore in 43 ministers, retaining the headship of petroleum with Timipre Sylva as subordinate, Igbere TV reports.

However, the president introduced four new ministries that did not exist in his first term and unbundled two, findings by Igbere has revealed.

Here are the ministries and their minister.

  1. Special Duties and International Affairs — Sen. George Akume
  2. Police Affairs — Mohammed Maigari Dangyadi
  3. Power — Engr. Sale Mamman
    Power was initially under the Ministry of Works and Housing headed by Babatunde Fashola.
  4. Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development — Sadiya Umar Faruk – Zamfara

Unbundled:

  1. Works and Housing — Babatunde Fashola
    It was formally tied to the Ministry of Power and known as Ministry of Works, Power and Housing with Fashola as Minister.
  2. Aviation — Hadi Sirika
    It was formally tied to the Ministry of Transportation with Sirika as Minister (State), and Rotimi Amaechi as Minister for Transport. But with the new independent status, Sirika has assumed a full Ministerial position.

Two ministries were, however, merged. They are the Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning, with Zainab Ahmed as Minister, and Clement Agba as Minister for States.
