A young lady who was found dead in Grand Venice Hotel in Woji road, Port Harcourt, Rivers State has been identified as Jennifer Nwokocha.
Investigation revealed she was from Omoku, headquarters of Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers.
According to people who know her, she was lured into all-night (till daybreak) sex romp with N10, 000 and roasted beef locally known as Suya.
Ms Nwokocha was said to have partaken in the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) with the aim of studying at the University of Port-Harcourt.
According to reports, the deceased’s friends said the suspect had arrived the hotel around 10 pm on Wednesday.
They raised alarm when they discovered her naked and unconscious the following day with her phone and money missing.
“The next day, at about 8 am, we found out that Jennifer had not woken up and when her door was opened, she was found naked with her hands tied behind her back with pillowcase and another pillowcase was used to tie her neck, perhaps to strangulate her,” a friend was quoted saying.
A similar incident had occurred in a hotel at D/Line area of the state about a fortnight ago.
Rivers police spokesman, Nnamdi Omoni, said a task force could be set up by the command to ensure that hotels install CCTV cameras in the premises.
