JUST IN: Governor Fayemi Begins Naming, Shaming Of Convicted Sexual Offenders In Ekiti

Ekiti State Government has begun the naming and shaming of convicted sexual offenders in the state in a bid to end rape incidents.

Governor Kayode Fayemi tweeted that the state began the process on Friday.

“Today, we commence the naming and shaming of convicted sexual offenders in Ekiti State. #SayNotoRape,” he said.

Fayemi shared a picture of Reverend Gabriel Asateru whom he said was sentenced to five years imprisonment for sexual abuse and exploitation of a 7-year old girl.

The text in the photo said: “This person whose picture appears here is Rev. Asateru Gabriel, formerly of St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Ifisin-Ekiti.

“He is currently serving a five-year prison sentence at the Federal Prisons, Ado-Ekiti, for sexual abuse and exploitation of a seven-year-old girl.

“He has been registered in the Ekiti State Ministry of Justice Sex Offenders’ Register.
